Raising
funds for the Royal Hospital for Sick
Children, Edinburgh
At the end of September
2010, I will set out to cycle from Gretna
Green to John O'Groats, from one end
of Scotland to the other. My aim is
to raise funds for new brain surgery
equipment for the Sick Kids Hospital,
equipment that will benefit children
from all over Scotland and further afield.
This is not just a
charity chosen at random. In October
2009 my 5-year-old daughter Rosa was
diagnosed with a brain tumour. Thanks
to the highly professional and very
speedy response of the Sick Kids, she
underwent all-day surgery just a week
after diagnosis. She has made a remarkable
recovery and is back at school and full
of fun. We have our Rosa back and that
is due to the expertise of the Sick
Kids.
Now the hospital needs
new equipment to give children in Rosa's
position the very best chance of recovery.
So please support me in my efforts:
450 miles (750 kilometres) in 5 days,
from Gretna to Groats the scenic way.
Lots of hills, lots of pain, probably
lots of rain, but ultimately, I hope,
a lot of cash raised for a very worthy
cause.
